Two year anniversary for the New Museum of the Acropolis

On June the 2oth, the New Museum of the Acropolis is celebrating its second anniversary. The museum was inaugurated in June 2009 and has received millions of visitors ever since, who can see the exhibits of the Acropolis and the marbles of the Parthenon.

On that day, the exhibition rooms of the Acropolis museum will remain open from 8am to midnight; the restaurant will remain open the same hours as well. The ticket will be reduced, with general fee at 3 euros.

During the evening, at 9pm, there is a concert with the Symphonic Orchestra of Athens Municipality, which will be performing pieces composed by Strauss, Vivaldi, Piazzola and Tchaikovsky.

There is no fee for the concert.

Visitors can watch an ongoing excavation under the museum through glass floors and open viewing sections.
