From Athens to Delphi
Our Delphi tour starts from Athens; we will be driving on the National Highway that will take us to Central Greece and the Voiotia Prefecture, where the historical Monastery of St Loukas, dating from the 11th century BC, is located.
Driving through the nice and relaxing country side, our private tour will take you to Mount Parnassos, and the picturesque village of Arachova, famous for the ski resort and the local products. You can do some shopping in the traditional town and then get ready to visit the famous Archaeological site of Delphi, the center of the ancient world.
The Temple of Apollo, where Pythia gave her oracles is the focal point in Delphi. You will also visit the Museum of Delphi where, Iniochos, the charioteer of Delphi is housed. The Temple of Goddess Athena and the Gymnasium of Delphi are also among the sights you can visit during your private tour.
Meteora
Later on, you can have a lunch in one of the traditional tavernas and restaurants of the village, overlooking the plains and the Itea Gulf.
From Delphi to Meteora
After lunch, the taxi tour will continue towards Kalambaka, an important town of Central Greece, mostly known due to Meteora, the famous complex of huge rocks featuring the second most important monasteries in Greece after Mount Athos.
The Meteora Monasteries date back to the 11th century and are included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
The second day of our private tour starts at the Meteora Monasteries, where you can visit the Monastery of Holy Trinity and other monasteries, that allow entrance to the public.
Thermopylae and return to Athens
Once the tour at the Meteora Monasteries is over, we will be driving back towards Athens through other important cities of central Greece. We will pass by Trikala and we will make a short stop at the Hot Gates, Thermopylae, where you can see the Monument of King Leonidas of Sparta.
