1st Day: Tour in Athens

The private tour starts from Athens; we will be driving from your hotel towards the downtown, where you can see the old Palace and current House of the Parliament located at the Constitution Square. After a short stop there, where you can also see the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier and the National Guard, we will be driving to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, situated just a couple of minutes drive away.

You will see the standing Columns and part of the temple and Hadrian’s Gate that ornaments the city since the Roman Era. Then, we will drive towards the Kallimarmaron Stadium – also known as Panathenaic Stadium – the original site of the first modern Olympic Games.

Your tour will continue to the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, the landmark of Athens; we will pay a visit to the Parthenon and the Erectheion and we will have a chance to admire the city of Athens from above.

After the Golden Era masterpiece and a short walk, we will visit the picturesque neighborhood of Plaka, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll within the cobblestone streets of this historical area. Buying souvenirs and gifts from the several gift and art shops and dining under the shadow of the Acropolis will conclude our sightseeing tour in the City.

2nd Day :  Tour in Corinth and Nafplion

Today’s taxi tour starts from Athens; we will be driving along the coastal road towards the city of Ancient Corinth, situated almost 90km away from Athens.

Corinth is known for the impressive Corinth Canal that connects the Aegean to the Ionian Sea. This city was a very important one in ancient Greece; known as a large commercial and market city, Corinth was a trading hub. Later, Corinth was one of the cities that hosted St Paul for two years; he arrived in 49 BC and he stayed there to preach.

After Corinth, the private tour will continue driving towards Nafplion, a picturesque harbor that was the first Capital city of Greece from 1828 to 1834.

Nafplion city nestles under the imposing Fortress of Palamidi and features a lovely small island, Bourtzi, in the middle of the Nafplion bay. After dining by the sea and enjoying this lovely city, we will be resting in order to start the new day fresh.

3rd Day: Tour in Olympia

Leaving Nafplion behind us, we will be driving through the plains and mountains of the Peloponnese Peninsula, towards Ancient Olympia. This worldwide known town was the birthplace of the Olympic Games, a significant religious and athletic hub in the country.

During the sightseeing tour you can see the original setting of the Games, the Museum of the International Olympic Committee and the temple of Zeus. We will be spending the night in the nice and hospitable town of Olympia.

4th Day: Tour in Central Greece

Our private tour will continue from Olympia, driving towards central Greece. We will cross one of the largest suspending bridges in Europe, the imposing bridge of Rio – Antirio and we will reach the beautiful towns of Nafpaktos and Galaxidi, driving towards Delphi.

A few hours later we will be arriving at Delphi, the birthplace of the Oracle Pythia. Delphi was the centre of the world as it was known in ancient Greece and you can see the mark  of the center (Omphalos, navel in Greek) close to the sanctuary of Apollo.

A visit to the Delphi Museum where you can admire the bronze Charioteer of Delphi, then a visit to the Temple of Apollo and the Temple of Athena the Pronaia, as well as the Gymnasium, will give you an insight on how this sacred place used to be during the Ancient Years. We will be staying the night at the friendly village of Delphi.

5th Day: Tour in Meteora

Our sightseeing tour will take us towards Meteora in Central Greece; an impressive and imposing complex of huge rocks hosting the Meteora Monasteries, the largest group of monasteries after those in Mount Athos.

The first hermits moved to Meteora back in the 11th century and created these monasteries that are included now in UNESCO’s list of  World Heritage Sites. We will be spending the night in the nearby city of Kalambaka.

6th Day: Tour in Thessaloniki

After Kalambaka and the gorgeous Meteora, Athens Tours will bring you to Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in Greece after Athens. Founded in 315 BC, Thessaloniki has been the commercial, cultural and financial centre of Northern Greece ever since.

The name of the city derives from Thessaloniki, the sister of Alexander the Great. Thessaloniki became the wife of the founder of the City, Cassander, who was a general in  Alexander’s army.

You will have the chance to see the beautiful city of Thessaloniki, the White Tower and the infamous nightlife of the city, paying a visit to Ladadika.

7th Day: Tour in Vergina

You can visit the Tomb of Phillip the 1st, King of Macedonians and father of Alexander the Great and the immense collection of the Vergina Treasures, featuring the golden garland of Vergina, the large marble sarcophagus with the king’s weapons and the gold larnax bearing the symbol of Vergina and the Macedonian Empire.
